Great hike to view!
Solemn hike up to Glassy Rock from the goat barns and Sandburg house. Views are nice looking north towards Pisgah. Nice brook half way up for watering hole for doggies. Beautiful grounds throughout. A must see underground version of Biltmore. Very low key. Don't be in a hurry.

What an amazing display of God's creation! What a wonderful gift from the Sandburg family and so well maintained by our National Park Service. Wear some sturdy walking shoes, bring a couple of bottles of water, and maybe a couple of granola bars. This is a fairly strenuous hike, so may not be appropriate for some heart/medical conditions. However, if you are just a bit out of shape, like me... bring your determination and give it a try. Slow, but steady will get you there. Come well hydrated. The cooler temps right after sunrise are a welcome condition for this hike. Well worth the effort!
Great short hike just under 2 miles round trip. My kids love taking this hike and having a picnic at the top on the rock. Plenty of benches to rest on the way up.
